NJ Striper Season Opens – A Rundown on Week 1 Catches!
It’s been a banner start to the 2022 striped bass season in the Garden State, with some calling it the best opener in a long, long time. In this week’s video forecast from the floor of the Atlantic City Boat Show we kick off the March striper fishery in New Jersey with a few of the latest catches, midweek reports from North, Central and South Jersey, with a little tactical attention – both bait and artificial – for getting into the March Madness. Bunker have been sighted in several local rivers, which means the first ospreys and herring gulls are on the scene as well; that’s just another sign of spring conditions ahead and better striped bass fishing throughout the region. Join The Fisherman in A.C. this week – come out for the boats, stay for the fishing seminars! Too far to drive from North Jersey? In addition to stripers, winter flounder is reopen again as well with boat rentals an option out of Belmar. Get our Pocono Outdoors report, a tease for the upcoming Saltwater Fishing Expo, and notice of cancellation of this week’s New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council meeting (in other words, nothing to report yet on summer flounder and black sea bass).
