NJ/DE Bay Region Fishing Forecast – April 4, 2024

Trout season is officially underway throughout the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region in this weekend ahead, with NJ and PA opening on Saturday the 6th, and New Castle County, DE reopening to young anglers on Saturday.  We kick off this week’s video fishing forecast from Old School Outdoors near the Delaware River talking jumbo stripers in the Garden State, not just along the rivers but an Easter Egg surprise left behind by a near 40-inch class fish off Lavallette in the form of a MiniPAT satellite tracking device.  Bottom line, stripers don’t read the textbooks, so they don’t really know where the experts say they’re supposed to be!  Spend the first 10 minutes this week talking stripers, and then it’s on to this week’s trout rundown and a weather-related look at foul weather gear in Open Boat.  Take a look around inside one of New Jersey’s newest tackle shops in Ewing off Route 29 near the Delaware River shad fishery, plus  George has your weekly report from the Pocono Mountains, tautog action is back for April at the Jersey Shore, and a look at how recent rains and upcoming lunar events could impact the local action.  Finally this week, a little fun with facts as we tackle viewer comments about the great regional divides in NY and NJ, and settling the pork roll vs. Taylor Ham debate through federal law.
