NJ’s Fall Surf – It’s Better in September!

“The East River, on Manhattan’s west side,” he says.  Well, not exactly Jim, the East River is most certainly on the east side of the Big Apple, which is where we kick off this week’s video fishing forecast with a look at steady bass and bluefish action just a little north across the border.  All compass headings aside, the September edition of The Fisherman Magazine is out this week with a special focus on the fall run of stripers.  Surf-wise at the Jersey Shore right now, a bunch of cocktail blues along the shore, a steady pick of fluke and the very first flurry of surf albies reported in Monmouth County.  Good numbers of tautog reported along the jetties, as well as the continued good action with sheepshead in Atlantic and Cape May counties in particular.  We’ll take a quick look at the offshore weather for the holiday weekend, with a trip to Shark River to get out of any future winds for some late summer fluke – another jumbo on the Raritan leads us to a review of the Dream Boat leaderboard, and a trip out west to the Poconos.
