Hot Toggin’ at the Reefs & Sand Eels in the Surf

With just a little over a week before Christmas – and the first night of Hanukkah coming on Sunday – many folks are entering into the “last minute mode” of holiday shopping. Spend five minutes with us in this week’s full New Jersey, Delaware Bay fishing forecast talking about a few gift ideas this season, perhaps even a gift subscription for The Fisherman Magazine. In our report from along the beaches of Ocean County there have been a few sand eels reported along the way; the presence of these slender baits in the wash can trigger a pretty significant striper bite during the month of December; break out the tins & teasers! It also appears that striped bass are staging in the back bays where it could mean a busy winter layover and another banner re-opening on March 1 of ’23. And of course, from now through the first quarter of the New Year it’s all about the tautog in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region. A couple of good ones to report, along with a teen-sized bluefish out of Delaware and our regular weekly updates from the Poconos and out of Costa Rica.
