Jersey Shore Stripers, Tuna, Sea Bass & Tog

It’s the first full week of December and we were still seeing a few blitzes here and there through the past weekend in the upper half of the Garden State; but at this point a new wave of late fall and early winter baits is beginning to set up along some beachfront stretches in the form of sand eel. Of course, in the lower half of New Jersey we’re not seeing these epic conditions, with the “Tale of Two States” taking center stage at this week’s striped bass management hearing in Manahawkin. After 10 minutes of stripers, we jump into the nearshore bluefin bite along the Jersey Shore which is another “hot and heavy” holiday fishery, as are black sea bass and tautog. The Dream Boat Fishing Challenge is now down to the wire, plus George is back this week with his sweetwater report with a look at the bite our friends are now into out at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos.
