NJ/DE Bay Region Fishing Forecast – January 12, 2023

Cape May Tautog Tops 21.4 Pounds

If you like a little hunting with your fishing head out to the to the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison for the four-day Garden State Outdoor Sports Show from January 12-15. The Fisherman Magazine has the very first booth as you walk in the doors to the show with BKK Hooks and packages of Fishbites for new and renewing subscribers. Reports of striped bass off South Jersey and Delaware in recent days, though as smattering of action in the Central and North Jersey surf as well. The big news this week is the report out of Pell’s Bait and Tackle in Brick which weighed in a 21.4-pound blackfish for Tommy Fariello who caught that jumbo on a MagicTail jig aboard the Cape May Lady. White perch is another option this weekend in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region, or perhaps sample some of the freshwater action from the coast out to the Poconos, or even farther west to Costa Rica. We wrap up this week’s video fishing forecast with Hutch’s first-hand account from the NJ Marine Fisheries Council meeting on January 5, with news on the regulatory front in the Garden State.
