The saying goes, “when the dogwoods bloom the drum will boom.”  While we may still be a tad early for those blooming dogwoods, the first boomer of a black drum weighing in at 45 pounds was checked in at One Stop Bait & Tackle in Atlantic City over the weekend.  In our first video fishing report for the spring of ’24 from One Stop, we go from drum to striped bass with a look at some bigger “spawning class” fish turning upriver of late.  So, it starts with bloodworms, then come to clams, but what are your plugging options?  In Open Boat this week we get a look some of the favorite plugs and lures as suggested by you the readers/viewers up in Edison during the Saltwater Fishing Expo.  Delaware River shad turned on last week according to our Pocono Outdoors Guy, and the first reported winter flounder out of northern Ocean County.   New Jersey blackfish opens in 11 days, trout season comes in 16 days; but what about porgy?  That and a Saturday, March 23 full of local events.
