NJ/DE Bay Region Fishing Forecast – May 23, 2024

Indeed we’re heading into the holiday weekend and the unofficial summer kickoff at the Jersey Shore, but let us not forget “the reason for the season” in honoring those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to this great nation of ours.  We kick off this week’s video fishing forecast with a look inside the June edition of The Fisherman (New Jersey and Delaware Bay edition) focusing on black drum; that bite of course, from Delaware Bay up along the Central Jersey coast has been epic!   Striped bass of course in the surf mix as well; think bunker chunks for blues and bass, fresh clam for stripers and drum.  A look at jumbo stripers and StriperQuest and of course “where’s the bait” is a big question of late – though a metal-lip swimmer is the focus of Open Boat this week and will get it done!  Black sea bass is back in play in New Jersey, Delaware waters, and the weekend weather looks terrific for sailing; as for Memorial Day fluking opportunities with the warm weather this week we’re forecasting a banner weekend of fluke fishing out back!  Get a Dream Boat Fishing Challenge update for the week, your Pocono Outdoors Guy’s report from Beltzville, and a Coastal Kayak Clash update, before wrapping up the week with upcoming events and a few final thoughts on family fishing.
