October 13, 2022 – Massive Stripers Hit the Jersey Shore

Our weekly video fishing forecast for the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region begins with a short clip from last week’s forecast, and then barrels ahead for 10 minutes of striped bass discussion about most recent buffalo stampede of jumbo stripers at the Jersey Shore. Some have called it the best, most sustained, multi-day blitz of giant striped bass on bunker in decades, but they didn’t arrive without a bit of a challenge for pluggers. As a reminder to all anglers along the Striper Coast, “snag and drop is dead” and the reason for the regulation is quite clear – reduce mortality in the “over slot” fish. Heck, not every angler loves every aspect of the striper regulations, be it the slot, the one fish bag, or the requirement that inline circle hooks be used whenever targeting striped bass with live bait. But as we discuss in this week’s report – on the heels of the first (of many) waves of migratory stripers to arrive along local beaches – it’s all about the striped bass!
