October 27, 2022 – More Weather Tricks Than Treats
A few days of foggy conditions this week made navigating to the striper grounds (without radar in particular) a little nerve-racking. But the peace and solitude of weekday fishing was good for our Northeast Striped Bass Study team this week as a new ‘sat-tagged’ striper was caught, named, tagged and released this week in honor of the Berkeley Striper Club. A quick look at The Fisherman Magazine’s Dream Boat and “CKC” standings with just about a month to go, as we look at the big bucket of stripers on the Raritan Bay pouring down along the coast. A full rundown on regional striper action, some land-based togging, blitzing albies and record-breaking tuna catches out of Manasquan. Regrettably, another few days of nor’east wind and swells is in the forecast for the Halloween weekend, but let’s think back to what happened the last time this happened and the winds laid down in the days that followed. How soon will we be seeing epic again?
