Happy New Year – And Yes, the Stripers Are Still Here!
Typically, when talking up specific “spots” where stripers are being caught it would lead to a lot of blowback from the surf community in particular. But with so many anglers hanging up their gear in recent weeks and those schools of striped bass moving as quickly as they are from town to town, beach to beach, we’ll wait and see how this week’s New Year’s weekend summary of the striper run breaks down. But in this week’s video forecast we offer a rundown of striper reports from Sandy Hook to Indian River in Delaware, and take a look at the Nova Scotia fish kill blowing up on social media this week and how that could relate to striped bass in the back bays of New Jersey. We’ve got our weekly report from the Poconos with George Schauer, a slate of fishing shows to kick off the New Year from Staten Island to Wildwood, and a 2-1/2-minute video clip submitted from a young angler with his final striped bass of the 2021 season in New Jersey which stands as a good reminder on why it feels so extraordinary when we get our young people hooked on fishing!
