Dan from Double D Charters reported Striped bass fishing is outstanding. He’s catching limits of keepers as well as many big cows. Bluefish have moved into town and are adding to the action. Fluke and sea bass fishing is still slow but showing signs of improvement daily.

The Ebb Tide reported continued improvement in the combo fishery on June 6. While fluke numbers still aren't where anglers would like them to be, catches were noticeably better. Martin Wellen Dowd became the first contest winner of the season with a 6.34-pound fluke landed on 6/6. Anglers also caught slot bass, oversized striped bass, sea bass, porgies, and a cocktail bluefish throughout the trip.

Captain John from Fishemlite Charters reported a dramatic change after leaving Shinnecock and running east. While fishing was slow along much of the beach, the action around Montauk was off the charts, with striped bass to 40 pounds providing nonstop action. He noted that similar fishing has been taking place around Block Island as well. Most of the fish came on his Premium Bucktails.

Captain Savio of Fishooker Charters reported excellent striped bass action in front of the Montauk Lighthouse, with fish to 40 pounds falling to jigs. Bluefish remain mixed into the action and continue to provide plenty of rod-bending excitement.

Mike from the Lazy Bones reported improving mixed-bag fishing. Saturday's trip produced several keeper fluke along with oversized striped bass. Ryan stole the show with an impressive 8.5-pound doormat fluke. Call (631) 668-5671 for reservations.

Over at Marlena's Yacht Club, they reported striped bass action remains strong around the Point, with anglers scoring on diamond jigs, flutter spoons, and other jigging presentations. Bluefish are mixed in with the bass, while porgy fishing remains steady around the Point as well. Keeper sea bass are showing up around Frisbees and the Pocketbook, giving bottom fishermen another quality option.

Will from the Montauk Anglers Club reported solid striped bass fishing near the Point, while the bluefish bite continues to build. Fluke fishing has been slow to get going, but anglers remain optimistic as water temperatures rise. Offshore, the first tuna reports have started to trickle in, with scattered catches coming from the vicinity of Veatch Canyon. Hopefully, that bite pushes closer to home in the coming weeks.

Captain Kenny aboard the My Joyce reported phenomenal bass fishing on June 6, as Justin and Danny enjoyed nonstop action from start to finish. They boxed an easy limit of slot bass and released numerous larger fish, including a 47-pound striped bass measuring 50 inches. The day before, anglers from Hurst Builders made the trip from upstate New York and were rewarded with steady action on striped bass of all sizes, along with a few bluefish destined for the smoker.

Jill from the November Rain reported that Montauk's striped bass fishing has been absolutely red hot. The annual Captain Tim Murray Memorial Trip once again produced excellent action, with Captain Tim's family enjoying steady bass and bluefish fishing throughout the day. Gary Lake and his crew returned for their annual trip and found excellent action on diamond jigs, while the Kathryn Evans charter enjoyed steady catches of both striped bass and bluefish. Daran's group encountered plenty of bluefish but still managed several slot bass. The Peter Morley charter found fewer bluefish and loads of oversized bass before boxing several slots. Closing out the week, Julie, Emily, Noah Krupnick, and their father Matt continued a nearly 20-year tradition aboard the boat, heading home with a striped bass limit while releasing several additional slot fish and overs. Captain Tom aboard the Sea Wife IV reported excellent striped bass fishing throughout the week. On Monday, Jozeff, Devin, Leyla, Amen, and family boxed their slot-sized limit of striped bass, added 15 bluefish, and released a good number of giant bass. Following several productive commercial fishing days, Saturday's trip saw Mike Torres, his son Brayden, Gary Forte and his son Maxx, along with Jim, catch their limit of slot bass, plenty of bluefish, and numerous oversized striped bass, including a 50-pound fish landed by Maxx. The group also added a pair of keeper fluke, a few ling, and a keeper sea bass. Sunday's trip produced another striped bass limit, several oversized fish, and a handful of shorts, though bottom fishing proved slow. Plenty of open dates remain available. Mike from Star Island Yacht Club told me striped bass fishing has been excellent both around Montauk Point and over toward Block Island, with some truly large fish in the mix. Anglers are having to pick through plenty of bluefish to reach the bass at times. Fluking remains on the slower side, but sea bass fishing is improving both south of the Point and right off the Point, where jigs and clam baits are producing quality fish.

Captain Jim from Tailwrapped Sportfishing reported outstanding striped bass action this week around Montauk Point. Ritch and his son Walker traveled from Oklahoma and experienced trophy-class striped bass fishing for the first time, boating fish to 45 pounds over two days of fishing. Diamond jigs, parachutes, and umbrella rigs all accounted for fish, while bluefish from 3 to 7 pounds remained abundant. Sarah and her crew enjoyed a productive half-day trip trolling green umbrella rigs for bass and blues before heading to Sam's Star Island Restaurant to enjoy their catch. Omar and his crew from Queens filled the cooler with bluefish and slot-sized bass, highlighted by a 51-inch striped bass estimated at 50 pounds. From the Viking Fleet, Captain Dave reported challenging fishing aboard the Viking Star during the June 6 porgy and sea bass trip. Dogfish were a major nuisance and made porgy fishing difficult, though a handful of quality fish were landed. John Wayne of Staten Island captured the pool with a 2.3-pound porgy. Down at West Lake Marina, reports continue to be very positive for striped bass, with fish to 40 pounds and plenty of slot-sized bass being landed. Bluefish are mixed into the action throughout the area. Fluke fishing remains somewhat slow around the Point, though warming water temperatures should improve things quickly. Sea bass fishing south of the Point continues to gain momentum, with fish to 19 inches becoming more common.

Captain John aboard the Shinnecock Star reported fishing both inside and outside over the past several trips. Anglers have been steadily picking away at a mixed bag that includes sea bass and ling outside, while the inside waters continue to hold abundant bait. Small sand eels and baitfish are concentrated throughout the bay, and as those bait schools grow, fishing opportunities should continue to improve. Call (631) 728-4563 to book a trip.

Bryce from White Water Outfitters in Hampton Bays reported good striped bass action around Jessup's Neck, where flutter spoons and snap-jigging techniques have been producing. Weakfish are also being caught in the same area. Porgy fishing has slowed somewhat, but anglers continue to find a decent fluke bite west of Ponquogue Bridge. Striped bass remain active inside Shinnecock Inlet, where cocktail bluefish are mixed into the catches.

Kenny from Tight Lines Tackle in Southampton described it as a slightly slower week overall. Some weakfish and striped bass continue to be caught around Jessup's Neck, while Shinnecock Bay is producing a pick of fluke. Anglers are also finding striped bass inside Shinnecock Inlet, particularly during moving water.

Capt. Phil Kess of the Fishy Business in Orient reports excellent striper fishing with fish to 30 pounds. Some big blues are also being taken and have been properly cleaned for groups who would like to them home and smoke them. Porgy fishing has also been solid. Capt. Rich of the Nancy Ann in Orient, reports great striped bass fishing with many big fish to 30 pounds but enough slot size fish for a daily boat limit or pretty close. Porgy fishing has also been excellent with plenty of tasty filets for everyone aboard. The Nancy Ann IV still has days open for charter from the end of July through August. Concerning the open dates, you are missing some great fishing during those days as Capt. Rich and his son Capt. Rick do a splendid job of putting their clients over humpback sea bass in deep water during that time of the season. I have seen the duo in action and they do a great job. With that said, do yourself and your group a favor and take advantage of the great sea bass fishing during the end of July and into August. Speaking of group, Capt. Capt. Paul Ripperger and Captain Rachel Jannace Johnson of the Tide Hustle in Greenport reports the porgy fishing has been good with fish to 2 plus pounds most days. The big news however is that for the first time this year the weakfish have showed up on Friday with several keepers being taken on Friday’s morning and evening trips. Thursday’s striped bass/porgy combo saw severe boat traffic putting a damper on the striped bass. Nonetheless they were able to put 4 slot fish on the fillet table and headed for the porgy grounds where everyone on board enjoyed excellent porgy fishing to 2 pounds. Friday saw a picky bite with everyone bringing 15 to 20 scup to the fillet table. The boat will be running a rod benders trip every Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. fishing for porgies and striped bass. Reservations are a must for these trips which is limited to only 15 passengers. The Tide Hustle will be sailing from Brick Cove Marina in Greenport every day, weather permitting starting at 7 a.m. and returning back to the dock between 2 and 2:30 p.m. The Tide Hustle is the newest addition of the East End open boat operation that is owned and operated by both Capt. Rachel and her husband Todd Johnson. Open boat trips are limited to 15 anglers with a 100 feet of rail space to roam in. Although walk ons are welcome, a reservation is strongly suggested to guarantee your spot on the rail. The Tide Hustle is also available for charters, also limited to 15 passengers. Craig from WeGo Bait and Tackle in Southold reports striped bass fishing has been on fire anywhere from Plum Gut to the Race. Bucktails and 3x3 rigs have been red hot during the day, while the night bite has been mainly on live eels. Weakfish have moved into the Peconic’s and have invaded the porgy grounds. High/low rigs baited with squid stripes and sandworms have also been effective in Noyack Bay, Jessup Neck, Roses Grove and Robins Island are all holding weakies. Porgy fishing has been solid with quite a few jumbos coming north of Jessup Neck on worms and clams. Squid fishing has slowed considerably at the docks.
